HISTORY |
|
The Hotel ‘La Grotta’ is a
historic building.
In the mid 16th century, what is today the site of the Hotel La
Grotta was an important landmark for the entire valley. It was home
to the Provost of the church of Santa Giuliana, the patron saint of
the Val di Fassa, located above Vigo. Another part of the building
was used for crop and livestock farming purposes. Towards the end of
the 17th century, the property was bought by our ancestors for their
forestry and pastoral activities, and it continued to be used as
such until 1968, when work began to convert the building for its new
vocation as the Hotel La Grotta.
An intriguing relic of the building’s past is the granite beam
engraved with a phrase in Latin.
We are proud of this heritage and are committed to ensuring that
this site continues to be an important place for the town and the
entire valley, by welcoming our guests in an atmosphere reminiscent
of a time that has not gone forgotten. |
